Sigma Delta Tau holds an annual event called the AHA Barbeque in which all profits go to the American Heart Association. The AHA Barbeque is held in the fall semester and prepared are a variety of typical barbeque foods such as burgers, salads, etc. This event is near and dear to our hearts because a former sister of our chapter, Malvika Mookerjee, known as Molly, passed away from a heart condition in 2006.

Throughout the semester we team up with various other greek organizations and raise money for UMDM, UMass Dance Marathon. UMDM raises awareness and funds for local patients and families of Baystate Children's Hospital in connection with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
This year, our chapter along with Sigma Sigma Sigma and Sigma Phi Epsilon got to meet Shane, our teams miracle child! UMDM allows UMass students to connect not only with the Western Mass community, but make connections with their miracle child and their families. Our sisters had so much fun at this past Dance Marathon. We were so grateful for this experience, and we cannot wait for the next Dance Marathon!! Here at Sigma Delta Tau we love partnering up with UMass Chabad to participate in community service.
Whether it's making hamantash cookies for Purim, baking challah bread for Chabbat, or painting mitzvah jars, Mrs. Adelman, the UMass Chabad coordinator, is full of sunshine and always willing to share her wisdom, inspiring stories, and positive attitude with us. |
